Seattle Mariners
President of Business Operations
The Seattle Mariners selected Protégé Search to lead the search for the President of the Seattle Mariners Major League Baseball Club. Our partnership with the Mariners resulted in one of the most inclusive executive searches ever conducted in professional sports.
Protégé Search submitted over 100 candidates for consideration, most of them women and people of color. In partnership with Mariners ownership and the search committee, that list of candidates was eventually whittled to 12 who interviewed with the search committee. The Mariners selected Catie Griggs, the former Chief Business Officer at Atlanta United FC, for this role and she became the first woman in Major League Baseball history to be appointed to the president position at an MLB club.

New America
President
New America selected Protégé Search to lead the search for its President and Chief Transformation Officer. New America is a new kind of think and action tank: a civic platform that connects a research institute, technology lab, solutions network, media hub and public forum. New America was also undertaking a transformational process whereby it was centering equity and inclusion at the core of its programs, policies, and internal practices.
From several dozen vetted candidates, Protégé Search and New America agreed on a slate of 12 quarter-finalist candidates. The two finalist candidates, an African-American male and a Latina woman, were provided an opportunity to present their responses to a case study to a panel of New America senior executives. New America selected Paul Butler, the former COO of honey + sparks, as President and Chief Transformation Officer.
Ben & Jerry’s
Racial Equity & Inclusion Director
Ben & Jerry’s, a progressive company deeply committed to implementing racial equity strategies to eliminate systemic marginalization, selected Protégé Search to recruit its first global head of racial equity and inclusion.
Protégé Search submitted profiles of DEI and racial justice leaders from corporate, social justice, and management consulting. After a comprehensive national search, Ben & Jerry’s selected Karen Driscoll of The Raben Group, a leading public affairs firm, for this role. Karen is a direct report to the CEO of Ben & Jerry’s.
